命取り / Deadly
どんなに平和な時代でも、命を脅かすものがなくなるということはありません。地震、火災、騒乱、そして地方で起こる一揆でさえ、人々の命を奪う原因となり得ます。この曲は、そんな不穏な気配とともに始まります。何かよからぬものが、ひそかに近づいてくる——小さな火種が誰にも気づかれないまま、やがて大きな炎へと育っていくように。そして、弦と金管が８分の５拍子の歪なリズムで暗いモチーフを奏で、その混乱を描き出します。曲が進むにつれ、状況はさらに悪化していきます。
Even during times of peace, there are threats to life. Earthquakes, fires, disturbances, and even local uprisings can cause widespread deaths. This piece starts with a feeling of menace – something is drawing near that shouldn’t, perhaps; a fire that starts small begins to kindle unseen into a bigger one. Then, the crisis starts to break, illustrated by a jerky, 5/8 meter and dark motifs on strings and brass. As the piece goes on, things go from bad to worse.
