歌麿の目覚め / Birth of Utamaro
世界中でその名を知られる喜多川歌麿ですが、この物語ではあまりに過酷で不憫な幼少期を過ごしています。しかし、虐待を受け、子どもが背負うには重たすぎる記憶に翻弄されつつも、やがて彼は浮世絵師を代表するひとりとしてその名を歴史に刻むことになりました。彼の絵には、軽やかな遊び心、気高い崇高さ、そしてただただ美しいもの——そのすべてが豊かに描き出されています。この楽曲は、そんな彼の歩みのように、ためらうようにはじまり、闇を抜けて光へと向かっていきます。過去にどれほどの苦しみがあったとしてもそれを超えて美しく、朗らかに、そして優美に、歌麿の筆から生まれた世界を音楽が花開かせていきます。
Utamaro, as he’s known today, suffered through a brutally uncertain childhood. Haunted by memories that no child should have to bear and abused as a boy, he nevertheless emerged as one of the greatest Ukiyo-e artists. His highly varied painting are sometimes whimsical, sometimes sublime, and sometimes just lovely. This music begins hesitantly, journeying from the dark to the light. Like Utamaro, the music blossoms beyond suffering into the beauty, joy, and grace that came from his brush, despite his difficult past.
