徳川幕府が世の中に平和をもたらしたとはいえ、権力や勢力をめぐる争いや陰謀は変わらずこの時代にも付き纏っていました。この曲では、時に非常に巧妙な策をもって繰り広げられた権力闘争や謀略の気配を描いています。高い教養を備え、政界に深く関わる人物たち——表に立つことのない、いわば“影の実力者”たちが、自らの地位や影響力を高めようと密かに策略を巡らせていました。この曲は、張り巡らされた糸の上で静かに、しかし確実に策略を編み上げてゆく蜘蛛のような彼らの姿を音楽で描いた一篇です。
Despite the benefits of peace during the Tokugawa Shogunate, the era nevertheless exhibited the inevitable struggles for power, influence, and intrigue. This piece illustrates the sometimes-subtle vying for power and machinations that went on during this time. Educated and influential, many politically connected, behind-the-scenes power brokers schemed to advance themselves. This piece is a musical illustration of those weaving, spinning spiders, as they covertly weave their schemes together and seek advancement.
