物語の終盤、重三郎は自らが後世に遺すものに思いを巡らせます。芸術、手引書、教科書、物語、笑い話、音楽、そして詩——その多くは、いまや日本だけでなく世界各地の博物館に収められ、今もなお大切に受け継がれています。彼の遺したものは、世界の文化遺産としてその価値が認められ、丁寧に守られ続けているのです。重三郎の功績に対する敬意と、そして作品に命を吹き込んだ絵師、作家、彫り師、紙漉き職人などすべての匠たちへの感謝を込めてこの曲を捧げたいと思います。今回もまた、下野竜也マエストロとNHK交響楽団が、この曲に壮麗なスケールと力強さ、そして美を与えてくださいました。

Toward the end, Jyuzaburo considers the accomplishments he leaves behind, a heritage including art, instruction manuals, school books, stories, jokes, music, and poetry, many of which can be found today in museums in Japan and around the world. His legacy has become part of the world’s heritage, carefully preserved and recognised for the treasure it is. This piece is intended as an offering in respect of Jyuzaboro’s accomplishment, and of the artists, writers, carvers, papermakers, and other craftsmen who brought these works to life. Once again, the NHK Orchestra and Maestro Shimono bring majesty, scale, power, and beauty to the music.
