芸術（もちろん音楽も）を生み出すには、想像力だけでなく、それ以上に「何か新しいもの」「今までとは違うもの」を創り出したいというある種の決意というか、むしろ衝動のようなものが必要です。この楽曲では、創造という営みの中にあるさまざまな要素が音楽で表現されています。始まりは決意を感じさせる小さなフレーズから。そこから少しずつ成長し、ある地点で一瞬立ち止まり、再び歩みを進め、そしてひとまず完成まで辿り着きます。が、その後、最初のアイデアに立ち返ってみたり、少し違った方向性を試したり、新たな強調点を加えてみたり、色彩を変えてみたり…。この曲は小さく、しかし力強く始まりますが、最後には確かな達成感とともに幕を閉じます。

Creating art (and music) does involve imagination, but it also requires a determination, almost a compulsion to generate something new and different from what has come before. This piece illustrates the many elements of a creative event, as it starts with determination, grows a little, hesitates on a plateau, grows more, and then reaches a temporary culmination. After that, often there is a reassessment and a reapplication of the original idea, perhaps in a slightly new direction, or with a new emphasis, a new color palette. This piece starts small, but determined, and ends with an emphatic feeling of completion.
