平賀源内が劇中で書いた『七つ星の龍』。この物語は、主人公「七つ星の龍」の英雄譚ですが、その名「七つ星」は田沼意次の家紋「七曜紋」から、「龍」は意次の幼名・龍助から取られています。物語は幻想的な語り口で展開し、音楽もまた、まるで雲が立ち上るように静かに始まります。クリスタルガラスを弓で擦ったような音、遠くから聞こえる声、弦楽器をスル・タスト奏法やハーモニクスで表現し、夢のような音を重ね合わせました。チェロはマーチャーシュ・オルヴェティさん、そして魅惑的な歌声をもつか歌手の堀澤麻衣子さんが複数のパートを歌い上げ、郷愁を誘いながらも力強さを感じさせる、感情のヴェールが生まれました。

As Jyuzaburo moves into a more established position in Nihonbashi, he continues to publish images with allegorical or metaphorical meaning. One of those is Gennai Hiraga’s story, Gennai Hiraga’s story “The Seven Star Dragon” is an allegory in which a heroic figure known as the “Seven-Star Dragon” appears. The name blends two symbolic elements: “Seven-Star,” derived from the Seven Luminaries crest—Tanuma’s family emblem—and “Dragon,” taken from Okitsugu’s childhood name, Ryusuke (meaning “dragon boy”). The story is presented as a mystical tale, with the music beginning almost like a cloud, with bowed crystals, far-away voices, and strings playing a variety of sul tasto and harmonics. With a magnificent cello solo played by Mátyás Ölveti, and our enchanting singer, Maiko Horisawa, performing multiple parts, this piece creates a wistful, yet powerful curtain of emotion.
