歌麿の迷い / Utamaro’s Darkness
時代を代表する傑作の数々を生み出した歌麿ですが、その穏やかな物腰や柔らかな口調の裏には、悲しく痛ましい幼少期の記憶が隠されていました。幼い頃に味わった屈辱と悲劇の記憶に長く苛まれ、さらに報われぬ恋が彼の心を痛め続けます。この曲は、そうした悲しみと痛みを悼む哀歌です。ソロピアノが、歌麿の寂しさと孤独を静かに映し出します。音楽はゆっくりとほどけていくように進みますが、そこに希望が訪れることはなく、ただ終わりの見えぬまま続いていく——そんな絶望が響いてくるようです。
Although he produced some of the greatest art of the era, Utamaro’s gentle manner and soft-spoken style masked a sad, tortured childhood. Haunted by tragic and humiliating memories, Utamaro further suffered from the ache of unrequited love. This piece laments these tragedies and feelings, with a solo piano illustrating Utamaro’s loneliness and solitude. The piece uncoils slowly, perhaps echoing the feeling that things are not going to get better, but will simply go on and on, hopelessly.
